Application of microcement. Generalities and planning of the work

The application of microcement is not as easy as it seems, it must be carried out by professionals with mastery of the system. Experience is key to leaving nothing to chance. The technician must recognize the conditions of the support and prepare it, know how to choose the right microcement along with the tools and opt for one procedure or another depending on the finish that is wanted to be obtained.

Work planning

Before starting, we must plan the work to give the application of microcement the appropriate time and space among the other trades. We will always leave the application of microcement for the end, except for the last coat of paint, the placement of the carpentry and the sanitary ware.

Necessary tools

Microcement is applied with specific tools although commonly used in construction.

Masking tape or paper with tape: to protect areas where the microcement will not be applied from splashes.

Measuring jug: the use of the jug allows to dose the amount of resin (for two-component microcements) or water (for single-component) necessary for the mixture.

Mechanical low-speed agitator along with double helix rod: to mix the microcement with guarantees and achieve a homogeneous mass.

Spatula: it is used as support for the trowel.

Trowel: of various types and sizes, flexible stainless steel or rubber depending on the material we are going to apply.

Industrial vacuum cleaner, roto orbital sander, sanding glove and silicon carbide sandpapers: once the microcement is dry, imperfections must be sanded and the generated dust vacuumed to continue with the process.

Rollers: are used to apply primers, the pore sealer and the application of the sealing varnishes.
