Microcement for swimming pools Atlanttic Aquaciment® XL

As a finishing microcement for swimming pools we have the Atlanttic Aquaciment® XL granulometry, which maximum aggregate size is reduced to 0.6 mm. A product with a slightly softer texture but with an equally fantastic performance. Continuous spaces are created that facilitate the union between various areas, creating a uniform and unequalled surface. The burnt effect of the steel trowel is reduced and in just a few days it reaches an extraordinary hardness.

Frequently asked questions about Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools

The new system is easier to apply, harder and more robust, with better waterproofing and water vapour permeability, more flexible and more workable.

The thickness of the system as a whole should be between 3 and 5 millimetres, without ever exceeding this limit. To obtain a smoother finish, the layers of microcement can be sanded with 40 or 80 grit sandpaper, depending on the hardness of the product.

Just as it is important to avoid the central hours of the day, to ensure that the temperature of the environment and the substrate never exceeds 30ºC, it is important to keep a close eye on rainfall forecasts. If you have started to apply our microcement for swimming pools and you see that it is going to rain in the following days, you will have to suspend the installation.

Of course it can. The Atlanttic Aquaciment® system is just as suitable for old pools as it is for new pools.

Yes, it is perfectly suitable. Before applying our microcement for swimming pools, the concrete must be waterproofed to avoid any future problems with the substrate.

Our Atlanttic Aquaciment® system is suitable on a multitude of materials, with the exception of waterproofing mortars and gresite in the case of the pool basin. This is because the anchoring on these substrates is not the same.

Each microcement system must be carried out as indicated in the technical data sheets. In the case of Atlanttic Aquaciment®, which has been reformulated and improved, it now incorporates a specific resin and varnish precisely to increase the performance of the product. If Acricem is used instead of Acricem Pool as component B of the microcement and primer, the mechanical and chemical resistances would be reduced.

Acricem Pool should be used as a primer.

Although on the surface Topsealer® WT One Coat, one of our most popular water-based coatings, and Topsealer® WT Pool are similar, the chemical resistances are different. The specific sealer for our microcement pool system is much more tolerant to agents such as bleach, ammonia and vinegar. It is also a harder sealant with better quality resins. Therefore, as with resin, Topsealer® WT Pool should be used.

Yes, you can and in fact you should, that is the system procedure. This varnish dries quite fast. Allowing 5-6 hours between coats would be sufficient.

It is possible. Since the "colour" Natural White is actually the original microcement, without pigment incorporated. But we as manufacturers only guarantee Natural White and White (with pigment), the two options on the Atlanttic Aquaciment® colour chart.

The maintenance of a pool coated with our microcement does not vary in comparison with other types of pool. The only thing we recommend is to renew the last coat of Topsealer® WT Pool varnish every 1 or 2 years, depending on the condition of the coating, by sanding the surface beforehand.

The application process of our Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools is the same for both the pool shell and the edges, crown and surrounding area.

Seven days after sealing, you can start filling the microcement pool with water.

Although Atlanttic Aquaciment® is designed as a system for swimming pools and other surfaces, its high hardness allows it to be used as a terrace coating.

We do not recommend applying the new formulation over the old system.

To apply Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools with the "fresh on fresh" technique, the fourth coat should be applied one hour after the third coat has been applied.
