Microcement for swimming pools Atlanttic Aquaciment® XL

As a microcement finish for swimming pools, we have the Atlanttic Aquaciment® XL granulometry, whose maximum aggregate size is reduced to 0.6 mm. A product with a slightly softer texture but with equally fantastic performance. Continuous spaces are created that facilitate the union between various areas, creating a uniform and unparalleled surface. The burnt effect of the steel trowel is reduced and in just a few days it achieves extraordinary hardness.

Frequently asked questions about Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools

The new system is easier to apply, tougher and robust, with better waterproofing and water vapour permeability, more flexible and with greater workability.

The thickness of the system as a whole must oscillate between 3 and 5 millimetres, never exceeding that limit.

Just as it is important to avoid the middle hours of the day, to ensure that the temperature of the environment and the support never exceeds 25ºC, you have to be very aware of the rain forecasts. If you have started to apply our microcement for swimming pools and you see that it is going to rain in the following days, you will have to suspend the installation.

Of course. The Atlanttic Aquaciment® system is just as valid on old pools as it is on new construction pools.

Yes. It is totally suitable. Before applying our microcement for swimming pools, the concrete will need to be waterproofed to avoid any future problems with the support.

Our Atlanttic Aquaciment® system is suitable for supports of reinforced concrete formwork, projected and gunned concrete. This system is not a waterproofing mortar nor can it be applied over other microcements, gresites, adhesive cements, waterproof mortars and paints. The reason is that the anchoring on these supports is not the same.

Each microcement system must be carried out as indicated by the technical sheets. In the case of Atlanttic Aquaciment®, which has been reformulated and improved, it now incorporates a specific resin and varnish precisely to increase the product's performance. If Acricem were used instead of Acricem Pool as component B of the microcement and primer, the mechanical and chemical resistances would be reduced.

As a primer, Acricem Pool must be applied.

Although at first glance Topsealer® WT One Coat, one of our most popular water-based varnishes, and Topsealer® WT Pool seem similar; their chemical resistances are different. The specific sealer for our microcement system for pools tolerates agents such as bleach, ammonia and vinegar much better. Likewise, it is a harder sealer with better quality resins. Therefore, just like in the case of the resin, you have to use Topsealer® WT Pool.

It can and in fact it must be done this way, that is the system procedure. Since this varnish dries quite quickly. Leaving 4-8 hours between coats would be enough.

As possible, it can be. Since the "colour" Natural White is actually the original microcement, without incorporated pigment. But we as manufacturers only give guarantees for Natural White and White (with pigment), the two options from the Atlanttic Aquaciment® colour chart.

The maintenance of a pool lined with our microcement does not vary compared to other types of pools. The only thing we recommend is every 1 or 2 years, depending on the condition of the lining, to clean with pressurised water and renew the last layer of Topsealer® WT Pool varnish by sanding the surface beforehand.

The application process of our Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for swimming pools is the same for both lining the pool basin and the edges, crown and surrounding area.

Seven days after sealing, you could start filling the microcement pool with water.

Although Atlanttic Aquaciment® is designed as a system for pools and other surfaces, the great hardness it possesses allows it to be used as a terrace coating.

Yes. It can be used without any problems.

We do not advise applying the new formulation over the old system.

To apply the Atlanttic Aquaciment® microcement for pools with the "fresh on fresh" technique, you have to apply the fourth coat one hour after having applied the third layer.

To achieve a smoother finish, the layers of this microcement for pools can be sanded with 24 or 40 grit sandpaper depending on the hardness that the product has reached. Or, also, apply the "wet on wet" technique and in the last layer use a sprayer with water and fine-tune afterwards with the help of a metal trowel.
